Portfolio Spotlight: Mundo Raises $20M Series A

We are pleased to share that Augment Ventures portfolio company Mundo has raised a $20 million Series A, led by GreatPoint Ventures, with participation from Y Combinator, E12 Ventures, and Next Frontier Capital. Together with a previously unannounced $4 million seed financing, the round brings Mundo’s total capital raised to $24 million.

Augment invested in Mundo at the seed stage, backing the company’s vision to build critical data and evaluation infrastructure for increasingly sophisticated AI systems. At the time of our investment, Mundo was focused on addressing a fundamental constraint in AI development: the availability of high-quality, multimodal training data across languages, geographies, and real-world environments.

Since then, Mundo’s platform has expanded around what the company describes as perceptual intelligence — enabling AI systems to better understand and interpret complex sensory information across audio, video, and emerging modalities. Its datasets and evaluation frameworks are being used by leading AI labs to improve how models perceive, interpret, and interact with the physical world.

The new financing will support continued investment across research, engineering, and operations as Mundo scales its platform and deepens its work with frontier AI developers. We believe the company’s progress reinforces our original investment thesis: as foundation models become more capable, proprietary data, evaluation infrastructure, and real-world perception will become increasingly important sources of differentiation.

Mundo Founder and CEO Jason Liao reflected on the company’s partnership with Augment:

“Our experience with Sonali has been amazing. She is super sharp and was able to intimately understand the most important aspects of our business within the first meeting. Even though I’ve been thinking about our business 24/7 since we started the company, Sonali consistently contributes high-quality ideas that I never would’ve come across otherwise — some of which we’ve added to our product roadmap. We’re so glad she’s in our corner.”

We congratulate Jason and the entire Mundo team on this important milestone and are proud to continue supporting the company as it builds foundational infrastructure for the next generation of AI. To read more on the Series A click here.

Mundo is also growing its team across research, engineering, and operations. Those interested in helping advance the frontier of perceptual intelligence can explore current opportunities on Mundo’s careers page.
