Sonali Vijayavargiya embodies a multifaceted persona as an entrepreneur, investor, mentor, technologist, avid traveler, and dedicated mother. Her passion lies in backing exceptional teams driving companies at the forefront of digitization and data, reshaping the very fabric of our daily lives, work dynamics, and leisure activities. Firmly believing in the transformative power of automation and data, Sonali envisions a future where traditional industries are revamped, fostering new business paradigms and steering us towards a more efficient and sustainable world.
With a career spanning two decades, Sonali’s journey began in Mumbai, India, where she honed her skills at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), orchestrating capital raises exceeding $100 million and offering comprehensive financial advisory services. Her entrepreneurial spirit ignited during her tenure at Edelweiss Capital, where she played a pivotal role in pioneering one of India’s first technology-focused investment banks, culminating in the historic listing of Rediff.com on NASDAQ.
In 2001, Sonali embarked on a new chapter in the United States, leveraging her expertise to establish Augment Capital, a venture advisory practice that facilitated multiple fundraisings, forged customer partnerships, and mentored aspiring entrepreneurs. This endeavor laid the groundwork for the founding of Augment Ventures in 2011, further solidifying her commitment to fostering innovation and supporting promising startups.
Presently, Sonali’s influence extends as she serves on the boards of Rivet, ConverSight, Crowdz, Cloud Agronomics, and Flume, while also contributing her expertise as a past board member of LLamasoft, Mercatus, RayVio, Iteros, Geotix, TiE Angel Group, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She lends her guidance to the Zell Lurie Commercialization Fund at the University of Michigan Ross Business School, enriching the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Sonali’s academic credentials include a BS in Statistics from Ferguson College and an MBA from the Symbiosis Institute of Management, both in Pune, India. She resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with her husband, two children, and their beloved canine companion, embodying the harmonious blend of professional achievement and personal fulfillment.
